Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) PG Cert Cog. Behv. Psych.
During Tom’s CBT career he has recognised that therapy can often be a daunting
prospect for clients especially if it is new to them. Tom’s approach incorporates the
appropriate use of humour, metaphors and analogies to help the client. Tom
believes that the working relationship between therapist and client is of great
importance. Tom has experience with depression, anxiety and traumas, and has
experience of but not exhaustive of obsessive compulsive disorder, body dysmorphic
disorder, social anxiety, anger, self-harm, phobias, panic and self-esteem issues.
Tom is currently working towards his British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) accreditation. Tom holds a post graduate certificate in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy from The University of Salford and is a qualified Dialectical Behaviour Skills Therapist (DBT), British Isles DBT Training.
Tom has worked in the private sector as a therapist working with common mental health problems such as dementia, anxiety, depression, trauma, somatic illnesses
and more severe challenging behaviour. Tom also has experience working with psychosis, schizophrenia and Borderline Personality Disorder.
