‘Bedtime Procrastination’ Is A Big Problem, But The Solutions Are Surprisingly Simple

We all do it. Delay going to bed when we are tired. Even when we know we shouldn’t. We’d planned to have a reasonably early night and end up watching just one more programme that adds little value to life or get one more thing done or have just one little snack

Sleep is important for many things including our mental and physical health. No matter how much we try to deny it we should get some ‘not just beauty sleep’.

This article looks at a study of 177 men and women who completed an online survey about their sleep patterns, tendencies to procrastinate, and individual lifestyles. Their responses were analyzed measuring links between procrastination and individual behavior.

They found that people who generally have trouble resisting temptations and adhering to their intentions are also more likely to delay going to bed. They offer some ideas for helping to get enough sleep from not having a TV in the bedroom to have a planned bedtime on weekends as well as weekdays.
